Alignment plays a huge role in your golf balls especially when you are putting. But which alignment should you use?

Everyone has different preferences on golf balls and what they should be using but when it comes to alignment it again it come down to personal preference.

TaylorMade has recently launched their new TP5 Stripe which is similar to the Callaway 360 Triple Track. Both have the same idea and concept but have completely different visuals, so how do they compare?

This new alignment design stands out to help you hole more putts.

PROS

  • Clear 22-millimeter digital band for clear visual
  • Black centre line to match putter centre lines
  • Great feedback on perfect putts and off centre strikes

CONS

  • Alignment visuals may stand out to much for some
Available for £49.99 from TaylorMade

TaylorMade’s TP5 Stripe is a premium performing five-layer ball that offer incredible distance, control and spin and features the all-new 360 ClearPath Technology.

For the first time, golfers can now play the best premium golf ball offering from TaylorMade with the added benefit the new visual technology. The clear 22-millimeter digital band that wraps around the centre of the golf ball has a thin black line to match putter sight lines providing an immediate aid in alignment.

TP5 and TP5x Stripe allow the golfer to align putts more accurately, consistently, and quickly. The design of Stripe also makes proper strikes easily identifiable as the Stripe rolls consistently toward the hole, while off-centre strikes cause a can’t-miss wobble of the digital band. ClearPath Alignment makes it easy to aim tee shots straight down the middle of the fairway as well.

Callaway 360 Triple Track
Designed to help you start your putts on your target to help you hole more putts.

PROS

  • Two thin blue tramlines make it easy to see when putts are hit correctly
  • Bold red centre line to line up your putts on your target line
  • Coloured lines deliver great visuals at address giving you confidence on each stroke

CONS

  • Colours might not be for everyone
Available for £55.00 from Callaway

Callaway’s 360 Triple Track comes in many offerings in the Chrome Tour, Chrome Tour X and Chrome Soft golf balls. It’s range is designed for performance, exceptional speed, consistent flight, spin, greenside control, and it’s 360 alignment-enhancing technology.

The 360 Triple Track design is a continuation of the Triple Track around the ball with the two blue lines marking a track with the redline in the middle marking the centre. The great thing about this design is you know when you’ve hit a perfect roll. If the blue lines wobble, then you’ve slightly mishit your putt or missed your target line and when you hit it perfect it looks like the lines are on a track.
It’s a great design and is fun to use when practicing your putting on the practice green or on the carpet at home.

Conclusion

These alignment aids are both brilliant and I’m a huge fan but they do differ and will appeal to different golfers.

The TP5 Stripe looks bolder with the digital tram line and thin centre and in my opinion stands out that little bit more and is easy to see when you’ve hit the perfect roll. It’s easy line up and delivers great feed back and the black lines will appeal to golfers who prefer a slightly bolder visual.

The Callaway 360 Triple Track has a thinner blue tram line and a thicker red centre line which is easy to line up. The way it rolls really cool as you can see the blue lines wobble and the red centre line scramble on a mishit putt.

What I would say is that if your eyesight isn’t as good as what it used to be try the TaylorMade TP5 Stripe as it’s just that bit bolder and more obvious when you’re lining up and hitting putts. The Callaway 360 Triple Track is more minimalistic with the thinner blue lines and thicker red line but it’s not as in your face. Its colours are very eye-catching when you roll your putts.
