Jason Day has turned heads with his move to Malbon, one of the most exciting apparel brands in the golf world. But what shoes is the Australian star wearing?

The 2015 PGA Championship winner wears Payntr shoes, a brand which is starting to make a big impression on golfers.

The brand started out making cricket shoes, but their golf shoes are excellent and that’s a big reason for Day trusting them on his feet.

Day wears the X1 Prototype Payntr shoes and he was spotted at the PGA Championship at Valhalla wearing a very special pair of them.

These shoes have been designed with the input of Day, as he recently became a stakeholder in the company.

In the past, Day has struggled with back injuries, but his new shoes are helping to keep him fighting fit on the course.

Before the PGA Championship got underway, Day posted a clip on his Twitter account, where he unboxed two custom pairs of the X1 Prototype shoes.

In the clip, Day reveals two pairs of Payntr shoes, with the first one featuring a white and blue colourway. Inside that shoe is an insole that not only will help Day to transfer his power better in the swing, but it features an image of him holding the Wannamaker Trophy back in 2015.

“This is the X1 Prototype that we’ve been working on with Payntr Golf,” Day explains. “myself and Michael Glancy and Mike Forsey (co-founders of Payntr Golf), we’ve been working on this for a while.

“This is a little special edition for this week.”

Having tested other models of Payntr golf shoes, we can see why they’re so popular with Day.

The Payntr X 004 RS shoes were a big hit with our Gear Editor, James Tait, who said that they gave him stability when hitting his driver.

As Tait explained, that’s a big reason these are becoming so popular on the world long drive scene, as Payntr shoes provide comfort and stability for those looking to maximise their power in the swing.

Can you buy Jason Day’s golf shoes?

For the moment, the shoes that Day is wearing in competition are prototypes, so they’re not available to the rest of us. In fact, his shoes this week are actually branded with the words: “Sample: Not for Resale.”

But, that might change soon, you’ll just need to watch this space!

However, Payntr do have a wide range of both spiked and spikeless golf shoes, with all of them offering great performance on the course.
