Dressing in layers allows golfers to easily adapt to the weather, by adding layers when its cold or removing them when it gets warmer.
Many golfers underestimate just how much heat is generated in a round of golf and frequently dress too warm. It’s also not unusual to play golf with not enough clothing when it gets bitter. Either way, it certainly makes golf less fun.
Thankfully, the remedy is simple. Wear the right clothing that provides warmth without bulk, offers wicking to move moisture away from the skin to keep us in the maximum comfort zone. Particularly in the autumn, we also want to wear something that will keep the wind out.
Putting some thought into your outfit before hitting the course is the way to go, especially when the weather is more demanding. What you wear could be the deciding factor in how well you play and how comfortable you are out on the course.
The Abacus collection offers a range of golf clothing ideally suited to all the conditions that can be experienced on the course. Take a look below at some of the highlights of the Abacus range below.
Sunningdale Half-Zip
Perfect for keeping warm while watching or playing golf, the long-sleeved Sunningdale Half-Zip boasts a soft, brush fleeced inside with a check pattern that encourages air circulation for added warmth and heat retention, while a high collar keeps out the wind.
DryCool tech ensures moisture is moved away from the skin for the ultimate in comfort and solid contrast fabric at the shoulders and side panels make for a sporty look out on the course. Meanwhile the ladies style comes with a full zip.
Lytham Softshell Jacket
Made from a stretchy softshell fabric that is also very breathable, the Lytham jacket is the perfect wind breaker when playing on windswept links venues or parkland courses when the conditions worsen.
Moisture and heat transportation properties will help you stay warm without over-heating, while built-in stretch enables total freedom of movement while delivering a secure, fitted feel, aided by elastic bindings in the cuffs and waist area.
Druids Softshell Windvent Trousers
The Druids Windvent trousers are made from a stretchable softshell fabric with a brushed inside for supreme comfort. They also offer protection from the wind and rain courtesy of a water-repellent coating that is also breathable, making it the ideal choice of trouser for those rounds when the weather can’t make its mind up.
Gleneagles Thermal Mid Layer
When layering is the strategy to keeping you comfortable during your round, the Gleneagles Thermal Mid Layer is the garment to choose. Featuring a very stretchable soft fleece that is brushed on the inside for total comfort the Gleneagles has quilted padding at the upper chest and back shoulders, for extra warmth in places most likely to get chilled. Perfect as an underlayer on colder days or as your main protection where the temperatures are a bit milder.
