Have you ever had an adjustable putter? The answer may well be yes, but we doubt it’s anything like these from Mizuno. The 2025 Mizuno M.Craft X putters take adjustability to a new level.

While adjustable weighting, which these putters feature in 7g, 14g and 21g increments, is all well and good, the option to replace the entire head shape is a potential game changer.

That’s right. In the same way that you would unscrew a driver head from a shaft, golfers can replace the head of their Mizuno putter to an entirely different shape.

It’s something which I tried at the Golf Groove, Wimbledon, where Mizuno’s launch event took place, and it’s certainly intriguing. We’ve all felt we’d like a change in looks on the greens when things are going against us, and this might just be the solution to the issue of having to buy an entirely new putter.

Mizuno M.Craft X putters: how do they work?

While this might sound complicated, I can assure you that the process behind changing the head on a Mizuno M.Craft X putter is pretty straightforward.

Firstly, it’s important to note that the whole head isn’t changing. You’ll be striking the ball with the same forged face, which is made from a piece of 1025 steel. The CNC Milled face is technology which most will be familiar with and that helps to give you a receptive feel at impact.

Instead, what you can change is the rear of the putter head. Currently, there’s three shapes in the Mizuno line-up, all of which are of the mid-mallet variety.

I tried changing one out and it is remarkably easy. If anything, for someone like me who will happily change putter if it isn’t performing how I want it to, it’s too easy.

If you do find yourself wanting a change of shape on the greens, but don’t want to invest in a whole new putter, then it’s certainly an intriguing option.

Mizuno M.Craft X putters: will the concept catch on?

It’s certainly something different from Mizuno and I love the idea. In the first instance, I think players will buy just one putter, but I do see a market for differing head shapes.

What I will say about these, is that I think Mizuno would really benefit from having some real variety from the heads on offer. Of course, that might just come later down the line.

If you’re someone who just can’t settle on one head shape on the greens, then this could be for you.
