If you’re a confident ball striker and you want irons to match, then investing in a set of blades might just be a wise choice.

If your aim on the course is to shape the ball and get close to pins, while hitting irons that feel sensational, then irons like this, with minimal focus on forgiveness, might be just what you’re looking for.

If you want some that are going to have your playing partners somewhat jealous, then the new Mizuno Pro S-3 irons are hard to see past. Let’s dive into the details on these exciting new blades.

The First Look

If you’re a fan of Mizuno irons – like most of us are – then you’re going to be a fan of these. The Pro S-3 irons look awesome, with the classic Mizuno logo, as well as the Mizuno Pro branding stamped on the back.

They’re exactly what you expect from a Mizuno blade. The team at Mizuno are these are keen to stress that these are not about volume and they’re not about forgiveness. Instead, it’s about catering to tour players and the elite ball strikers amongst us.

However, even for those of us who might not be putting them in the bag, we can all agree they are stunning.

The Tech

You might not think there’s too much tech in these irons, but a lot goes into making sure they deliver the feel and performance you expect from a Mizuno iron. Let’s take a look at some of the key points.

Grain Flow Forged HD process

The saying that nothing feels like a Mizuno is said a lot, and it’s entirely true. These clubs are made with this advanced forging technique, which is paired with 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel, which ensures a soft and responsive touch that the best players crave.

Triple Cut Sole Technology

This feature, which you can clearly see on the sole of the club, allows for greater turf interaction. A bevelled leading edge glides through the turf, while a hard-cut trailing edge helps for a smooth exit from the ground. The optomised sole geometry is carefully balanced to deliver superior playability, to allow for precision in any playing conditions.

Copper Underlay

This inclusion helps to further enhance the experience of hitting these irons, refining the vibration at impact to give a smooth sensation at impact.

Compact Shaping

As you would expect from these, there is a sporty shape that will appeal to better players. A thin topline reduces visual bulk, providing a classic, tour-preferred aesthetic, while a thin sole enhances versatility, making the club effective across various lies and turf conditions. The compact head length adds to the precision and workability, allowing players to shape their shots with confidence.

Meanwhile, straighter lines introduce a clean, modern appearance, striking a balance between traditional elegance and contemporary style.

The bunkered Verdict

These irons are on their way to the bunkered office as we speak! Once they’re here, we’ll be able to give you our thoughts in full.

However, we know that Mizuno know what they’re doing when it comes to making top quality irons. That’s not going to change with the new Pro S3 blades.
