Motocaddy has confirmed big changes to the way golfers are using their trolleys, with more than one in four players switching to a lithium battery.

Lithium batteries were first introduced to Motocaddy carts six-years ago, but now more and more golfers are turning to the lightweight batteries to make the game less expensive and to reduce its physical demands.

“Golfers are experiencing much better reliability on the course thanks to lithium technology and are enjoying the added benefit of reduced wear and tear on their powered trolley,” said Motocaddy managing director Tony Webb.

“This, coupled with the convenience of keeping the battery in its tray when folded down and quicker charging, has made lithium models the increasingly popular choice.”

“Golfers are experiencing much better reliability on the course thanks to lithium.”

Motocaddy pioneered an industry first in 2012 by introducing five-year warranties to its customers, and since then it has added an 18-hole lithium battery to the popular 36-hole model of the past.

Launched last year, the 18-hole Lithium battery weighs just 2.5kg – a third of the lead-acid equivalent – plus it’s half the size of the lead alternatives, making them easy to store.

An integrated battery management system protects all lithium units and therefore helps to provide a five times longer lifespan. Lithium batteries can also be charged from empty in less than five hours.
