Motocaddy pledged its support in a big way for Rick Shiels last week, after the YouTube star completed the 100-hole challenge to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Shiels took on The Big Golf Race, playing 100 holes of golf in a day with his camera man, Ben Wright, after Wright’s father was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.
Motocaddy, upon hearing about the challenge Shiels and Wright were taking on, pledged to donate £100 for every birdie the pair made around Prestwich Golf Club in Manchester.
As well as this, the brand donated two of their new M7 GPS REMOTE trolleys for Rick and Ben to use on the day, plus an M5 GPS DHC trolley for guests joining them for rounds on the day.
At the end of the day, the birdie pot stood at an impressive £2,500, but Motocaddy decided to double that, to take their final donation figure to £5,000.

“We’re delighted to have been able to help boost fundraising efforts for Rick and Ben for what is an unbelievable cause. The day was a mixture of celebrating their efforts, but also remembering why we’re here in the first place,” said Motocaddy’s Marketing Director, Oliver Churcher.
“When I heard the numbers around prostate cancer, with one in eight men being affected, and how it’s now the most common cancer in England, anything we could do to raise awareness or highlight the risks to men across the country was a no-brainer.
Every year, I like to do something for @ProstateCancerUK, but this year it hits closer to home.

“A big well done goes out to Rick and Ben for taking on the challenge, but also being an inspiration to those suffering with prostate cancer and all those that have been affected,” he added.
Rick Shiels, who has raised over £200,000 for Prostate Cancer UK in the past, praised Motocaddy for their support.

“I want to say big heartfelt thanks to Motocaddy for the support of not just the birdie fund, but for the electric trolleys that helped us round 100-holes.
“When Ben told me about his father’s diagnosis and his desire to take on The Big Golf Race, it was an immediate ‘yes’ from me. I like to try and support Prostate Cancer UK every year if I can, having walked, cycled and hosted golf days in the past, but 100 holes in a single day was a really tough challenge, especially in the heat, but it was all worth it to help raise vital funds to help save men’s lives.”

Daniel Richards, Brand Partnerships Manager at Prostate Cancer UK, thanked Shiels and Motocaddy for their support in raising awareness about prostate cancer, which impacts one in eight men.
“Every penny from every challenge means so much to us and it gets us closer to the ultimate target of having prostate cancer being easily detected and stop men from dying,” he said.
“Having Rick use his platform to raise awareness of our messaging is amazing, and to have the golf community come together, like Motocaddy, to pledge what they have is special. We want to thank everyone that has been involved in this challenge, but also the 2,500 golfers who are also taking part this summer.”
There’s still time to donate to the fund from the 100-holes challenge, with the pot currently at over £7,000. You can do that here.
