Mizuno have been very active over the January launch season, with the launch of their new irons and wedges. Now, it’s time for the launch of their new golf balls, the Mizuno Pro S and Mizuno Pro X.
The new Mizuno Pro S and Mizuno Pro X join the Pro family as they represent what Mizuno say is the pursuit of performance excellence.
These new Mizuno Pro golf balls are designed to meet the expectations and demands of golfers at the highest level. The new golf balls deliver advanced aerodynamics, enhanced speed, and exceptional control.
Now this all sounds great, but how do these two new golf balls differ?
Mizuno Pro S
Let’s start with the Mizuno Pro S golf ball.
This ball golf ball is designed with low long-game spin, moderate short-game spin and the softest feel possible. The Mizuno Pro S also has a unique compression design with cover enhancements to reduce spin while maximising touch and precision around the greens.
If you are wondering where the speed and distance comes from, that is from a 12% thinner cover and 6% thicker mantle layer. These work together to increase ball speed, ensuring exceptional distance off the tee and crisp, responsive performance on approach shots. Trajectory wise, the Mizuno Pro S offers a mid-trajectory, making it an ideal choice for players seeking a penetrating ball flight. And with a 332 Axial Flow Dimple pattern, the Axial Flow Dimple Design optimises surface coverage to reduce air resistance, so these balls perform in the windiest conditions.
Mizuno Pro X
Moving on to the Mizuno Pro X golf balls.
This has a soft feel, more of a mid spin in long game and a balanced short game spin. The Mizuno Pro X is designed to also give you more feedback and control with a design that offers mid-spin and versatility.
Just like the Mizuno Pro S, the Mizuno Pro X utilises a 12% thinner cover and 6% thicker mantle layer to generate explosive ball speed, delivering maximum distance and control. The trajectory differs to the Mizuno Pro S with the Mizuno Pro X designed to produce a higher trajectory, ideal for players seeking greater apex height and a steeper landing angle on the greens.
It still has the same 332 Axial Flow Dimples design, which reduces drag and enhances stability in all conditions.
Mizuno Pro golf balls: The details
These golf balls look really slick and bring a premium feel to them. I’m a big fan of the Mizuno Pro branding that we see here, as well as on the new irons and wedges which Mizuno have launched this week.
In terms of the performance, I think we can all agree we want less movement in the wind and more control and that’s what you can expect with these new Mizuno Pro golf balls.
The Mizuno Pro S is the softest feeling out of the two with lower spin off the tee and mid spin with the irons.
The Mizuno Pro X is going to give you a mid spin off the tee and the long irons but will have a higher launch and more spin on approach shots. I can’t wait to get my hands on these and take them out on the course and see how these golf balls perform.
As you would expect, Mizuno have high hopes for these golf balls, and they certainly look the part.
