Nike unveil Rory & Tiger’s US Open looks

Nike Golf has revealed the apparel that will be worn by Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and their other ambassadors at this week’s US Open at Chambers Bay.

The emphasis from Nike at the tournament is the use of stretch woven fabrics, especially designed to keep players cool and dry while playing at the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

Altogether, there will be 12 Nike Golf athletes participating in the 2015 tournament, including McIlroy, Woods, Paul Casey, Kevin Chappell, Tommy Fleetwood, Cody Gribble, Russell Henley, Jamie Lovemark, Francesco Molinari, Cheng-Tsung Pan, Charl Schwartzel and Shunsuke Sonoda.

Here’s what a selection of those players will be wearing, starting with the world No.1.

Rory McIlroy

The 2011 winner will dress in a color palette of white, blue and grey as he competes against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. Always looking for lightweight fabrics with stretch to accommodate his powerful swing, McIlroy will bookend the tournament in the Nike Major Moment Tactical Polo.

He will sport the Nike Major Moment Elite 26 Polo on Friday and Saturday and will complete each look with the Nike Tour Legacy Mesh Cap, Nike Modern Pant, Nike Therma-FIT Engineered 1/2-Zip Top and Nike Lunar Control 3 iD shoes in custom colours.

Tiger Woods

The three-time champion will wear pops of red throughout the week with innovative apparel styles, built with breathability in the areas that Woods needs it most to benefit his game.

Woods will start the week in the TW Elite Cool Carbon Polo in black and white, paired with the TW Ultralight Tour Cap. Woods will wear the TW Velocity Glow Stripe Polo in grey and red on Saturday and his traditional red shirt for the final round. He will pair the TW Adaptive Fit Pant and TW Engineered Sweater with each day’s looks.

Charl Schwartzel

Schwartzel will suit up in the Nike Modern Pant and Nike Tour Legacy Mesh Cap each day, while three different colourways of the Nike Lunar Control 3 will accompany his line-up throughout the week. The 2011 Masters champion will tee off on Thursday in a daring red Nike Afterburner Polo featuring a stretch jersey fabric with a gradient fade graphic.

The South African will end the tournament in a lyon blue Nike Major Moment Commander Polo, which utilises a lightweight breathable sphere-like jersey fabric and modern colour blocking.

Russell Henley

Sporting the Nike Tour Tall Visor each day of the tournament, Henley will wear the Nike Plaid Pant featuring a lightweight breathable stretch woven fabric on Friday and the Nike Flat Front Pant the remaining rounds. He will begin his quest for the championship in the black Nike Afterburner Polo on Thursday and a bold stripe Nike Patch Pocket Polo featuring Dri-FIT cotton blended jersey on Friday.

Henley will start the weekend in a light retro (aquamarine) coloured Nike Major Moment Mix Polo with a knit-like woven and stretch mesh combination. He will end the weekend in a lyon blue Nike Tech Vent Stripe Polo with a yarn-dyed polyester jersey and pique repeat stripe on Sunday.

Franceso Molinari

Molinari will compete in a variety of seasonal colours, especially on Saturday when he will pair the Nike Tech Ultra Polo in light retro with a lyon blue pair of Nike Flat Front Pants.

The Italian will begin and end the tournament in the Nike Plaid Pant. He’ll sport a red Nike Tech Ultra Polo, featuring a lightweight stretch jersey fabric, on Thursday and a volt Nike Victory Polo and belt on Sunday.

Tommy Fleetwood

Fleetwood will drive the modern look of golf in the Nike Tech Ultra Polo in the second and fourth rounds. He will tee off in the Nike Tech Embossed Polo paired with a lyon blue Nike Modern Pant.

He will round out his week in the Nike Lunar Control 3, Nike Ultralight Tour Cap and Nike Dri-FIT 1/2-Zip Top.
