With the first shot of the 2014 Ryder Cup fast approaching, ProQuip Golf, the supplier of weatherwear to the European Team at Gleneagles, has issued a series of facts and figures about its role in the Ryder Cup.

The Scottish brand first outfitted Jack Nicklaus’ US Team in 1983. Since then, it has racked up a number of interesting facts and figures, as it kitted out both the US and European sides over the years.

ProQuip Golf in numbers

31 – the number of years the brand has been a preferred supplier of weatherwear to Ryder Cup Teams.

In total, six American and 13 European Teams have worn ProQuip.

240 – number of Ryder Cup players ProQuip has outfitted with waterproofs and windtops since 1983.

221 – number of Ryder Cup points won by Team Europe while ProQuip has been a preferred supplier compared to 199 for Team USA.

36.6mm – The amount of rain that fell overnight and throughout the opening day of the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor in Wales, more than 40% of South Wales’ monthly average.

£4,000 – the amount of money Team USA were reported to have spent buying ProQuip waterproof suits at the 2010 Ryder Cup “watergate” at Celtic Manor. Their official team waterproofs leaked and were abandoned by team captain Corey Pavin.

400 – the number of weatherwear garments supplied to Team Europe’s players, officials, staff and supporters for the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club in Chicago.
