Gannet Pitch Mark Repair Tool review

The last pitch mark repair tool that you’ll ever need to buy! It’s a bold claim from Gannet, a brand who make this premium pitch mark repair tool. This has been developed on the west coast of Scotland, which is home to harsh weather, but some of the best golf courses, and crucially, putting surfaces, on the planet.

But, how does it perform? Let’s take a closer look.

The First Look

Firstly, it’s clear that this is a premium product. The Gannet comes in a special, robust box, which is a nice touch that does make a difference to the overall experience.

I’ve no doubt that this is going to last you a long time. It feels very sturdy in your hand and it looks the part too. It’s certainly heavier than your standard pitch mark repair tool, but it’s far from being too large to put in your pocket on the course.

Looks wise, I’m certainly a fan.

The Tech

You might not think that there’s a lot to know about the tech in a pitch mark repair tool, but you’d be surprised. Here’s what Gannet has to say about this premium tool.

“The Gannet Pitch Mark Repair Tool has been designed in Scotland and put to test on some of the best putting surfaces on the planet.

“The patent pending tool fits in your hand perfectly, with the fork lining up with your forearm to maximise the range of motion in your wrist, making it feel unusually easy to repair pitch marks. This will be the last pitch mark repair tool you ever need to buy.”

As you’ll see, the fork on this is made from laser cut 440c stainless steel, so it’s going to look fresh no matter how many times you use it. The button, which retracts the fork into the handle, is also made from the same high quality material.

It also features two ball markers, with the slide out option that you can see on the left of the image below designed to help you line your ball up on the greens.

A lot of tech is packed into this handy little accessory, that’s for sure.

The bunkered Verdict

A pitch mark repair tool is something that all golfers really should have in their pocket. Having a high quality one is a fantastic addition to the bag and if you want something that looks the part and performs well, then look no further.

I can’t say I had ever thought about my technique when repairing a pitch mark on the greens, but the design of the Gannet changed that. The tool has a unique angle between the handle and fork, increasing the range of motion when repairing your mark on the greens, so you can sort out your pitch mark easier. The fork aligns with your arm, making it straightforward to leave the green in the best possible condition. If you’re someone who uses a simple tee, this will help you do a better job on the greens.

The stainless steel fork is long, so if you’re making deep pitch marks on the greens, it can get to the bottom of them and properly repair the grass. Also, unlike other tools, the fork retracts into the handle, so you won’t get bothered by the spikes in your pocket.

Overall, this is a really well made, premium product. I’m aware that some golfers might not want to spend £39.99 on a pitch mark repair tool, which is fine, but for those who want something that will last and is great quality, they’re in the right place.
