G/Fore Gallivan2r Spiked G/Lock golf shoes review

I was really excited when I saw that G/Fore were releasing a spiked version of their new Gallivan2r shoes.

If you read my review of the original Gallivan2r shoes from the start of 2024, you’ll know that I loved them, but my only observation was that I would have liked a version with more comprehensive spikes. Now, we have exactly that!

Let’s take a closer look at what G/Fore has to offer with this latest release.

The First Look

As with the spikeless version, we have TPU leather construction on the top, along with the colourful soles, that make these very easy on the eye.

But, what makes these different to the original Gallivan2r is the SoftSpikes, which make up the G/Lock Cleat System. Thankfully, these don’t detract from the great looks of the shoes.

The Tech

Similar to the spikeless version, the insole in these shoes is going to give you a feeling you won’t get in other golf shoes. It took a minute to get used to in the spikeless Gallivan2r shoes, but once you get them out on the course, they feel brilliant.

Next, the 3D moulded heel cup is designed to keep your foot stable on the golf course. It also adds to the out of the box comfort that these give.

But of course, the main attraction here is the new G/Lock technology cleat system, which is made from TourFlex Soft Spikes. These perform very well in other shoes, so we’re expecting exactly the same levels of traction and control here.

A combination of the Mg4+’s modern performance details with the Gallivanter’s classic silhouette, the Gallivan2r G/Lock is a recent addition to our vast selection of innovative footwear. Equipped with replaceable softspikes, an auxetic lattice midsole, heel counter security, cushioned interior, and performance textile lining, its ultra lightweight and comfortable design ensures fully locked-in stability with every swing. The waterproof T.P.U. upper won’t let the weather stop you either.

The bunkered Verdict

There is a pair of these shoes winging their way to bunkered HQ as I type this. As I said at the top of this piece, my only slight issue with the original Gallivan2r shoes was the spike system, which wasn’t quite as comprehensive as some of their rivals.

However, it looks like that’s not going to be the case with these. By no means was I slipping and sliding around in the original Gallivan2r shoes, but for someone like me who usually prefers a traditional spiked shoe, I always felt like some more pronounced spikes would complete these shoes.

Thankfully, the team at G/Fore listened (I’m not taking full credit for this model coming out, don’t worry) and now we have these!

I’ve had them out on the course a few times now, and I’m a huge fan of these shoes. Once again, the comfort from these is top class. The insole, that features the classic cushioned interior, really does help to massage your feet as you walk along the fairways.

As I expected, the traction from these is brilliant, thanks largely to the spikes that G/Fore has incorporated on these shoes. It just gives that little extra layer of confidence that you’re going to be stable over the ball.

Finally, the looks of these just take them to another level. As someone who wears more traditional looking golf shoes, I love the way these look.
