These days, golf shoes are generally split into two categories. Either you have spiked shoes, which are designed for the golf course and only the golf course, or you have spikeless shoes, which can be worn away from the links too.
A lot of shoes exist somewhere in the middle of this spectrum, but Pluto Golf sit very much in the latter section.
In fact, you’d be forgiven for thinking their Pluto 1 golf shoes are purely made as streetwear shoes. But, they are the brand’s first golf shoe and they say they’re the future of golf sneakers (trainers to a UK audience). But how do they perform?
As I alluded to, these look like trainers and that’s exactly what Pluto is aiming to do with these shoes.
I got a pair in the Red Eye colourway (pictured below) and I’m a big fan of the looks. I think the style around the heel is cool and that’s aided by the clearly high-end materials used here.
I won’t lie, I’d usually go for a more traditional looking golf shoe, but if you want golf shoes that look like trainers, these are hard to beat.
I’m used to dealing with golf shoes that promise loads when it comes to technology. This is all well and good and for many shoes the tech makes a huge difference to the way they perform on the course.
But, as far as I can see, any technology in these shoes takes a back seat in favour of comfort.
Pluto say these are the most comfortable shoes in golf and I would struggle too much to argue with that. These feel just like trainers, they are roomy inside, soft underfoot and all round, comfortable.

• Should you wear spiked shoes or spikeless shoes?
I’ll be honest, the first time I worse these shoes, it wasn’t on the golf course, it was a day out in the town, and I’ve struggled to take them off my feet too much since then.
I’ve worn these shoes, which I often forget are golf shoes, to the office, the driving range, walking the dogs and even to the pub.
So far, I’ve found these to be very comfortable and I’ve certainly got good use from them. They’ve also been easy to clean. Grass stains from the golf course were easy to get rid of, while the stain of a vodka coke was easy to clean too, which is a test I’ve not tried with any other golf shoes.
On the golf course, these are, again, comfortable, but they’re not designed with maximum grip in mind. They do offer something of an outsole that will aid in grip, but really, this is minimal. If you’re looking for stability and traction, then you’ll go a different direction from these, but that’s fine.
I mentioned this in the First Look section, but the Pluto 1 shoes really are made with premium materials and that is to be commended. The leather is top class and it all adds to a premium experience wearing these.
If you’re a golfer who wants a pair of shoes that you can put on at home, drive to the golf course in, play your round in, and then head into the clubhouse, without taking off, you’ll love these.
