Vega irons have predominantly been irons and blades aimed at the elite level. However, that has changed thanks to the Mizar iron range.

I got my hands on the Mizar Tour, Mizar Pro and Mizar Max driving irons and, as you would expect, they look superb.

Starting with the Mizar Pro, looks wise, it’s amazing. It has a nice thin topline which looks razor sharp, clean at address and brilliant behind the ball.

The muscle back iron has a unique weight port from the toe all the way to the heel that holds a weight bar.

This bar changes weight and material, from Tungsten in the long irons to Titanium in the mid irons and to aluminium in the short irons to optimise launch and spin.

The feel of the face is superb, while the feedback is great off the Japanese forged head and, surprisingly, there is a fair bit of forgiveness, especially on the slight mishits.

The flight of the irons is brilliant and I have to say, the control you get is very impressive.

Moving on to the MIZAR Tour which again looks superb at address and, with very minimal offset, it’s very inviting behind the ball.

It has a slightly thicker topline in comparison to the Pro, however that just gives you more confidence when standing over the ball at address.

• Vega expands its iron range

The face insert is made from softer carbon steel, which feels softer but explodes off the face with impressive forgiveness.

The high progressive CG design allows you to fight the ball better, giving you more control on all shots, particularly those worse strikes.

Lastly, the MIZAR Max driving iron, which is very impressive. It’s compact, packed full of forgiveness and comes off like a missile – it is so much fun to hit.

The forged hollow body construction combines a 2.8mm floating titanium face, using internal weighting to give you explosive speeds off the face.

• Duca del Cosma’s new range of winter boots

The ball flight is penetrating, the sound is crisp and solid it’s brilliant if you’re in the market for a driving iron.

The Vega Mizar Irons collectively are superb whether you’re looking for a muscle back blade, a player distance iron with added forgiveness, or a driving iron that you can feel confident with.

These Vega Mizar Irons feel incredible, perform well and are definitely worth trying out.
