If you’ve wondered what it’s like to play the irons of a career grand slam champion, now you can with Rory McIlroy’s TaylorMade ROS PROTO irons, which are now available for the first time.

Since joining Team TaylorMade in 2017 Rory McIlroy has played a single set of irons, RORS PROTO. In that time, he’s used his RORS PROTO irons to capture 18 PGA Tour wins, including two Tour Championships, two Players Championships, two Ryder Cup victories, and a win at Augusta National to complete the career Grand Slam just a few weeks ago.

These irons are exactly the same spec as the ones Rory has used his whole time with TaylorMade.

The RORS PROTO irons take on a small, sleek profile that offers the feel and workability that the 2025 Masters Champion likes. They are made of 1025 carbon steel and undergo a multi-step forging process to ensure precise shaping for further enhanced feel and responsiveness.

The irons are also feature a horizontally milled channel in the cavity which separates the mass on the vertical axis for precise inertia and trajectory control.

Just like his irons, the RORS PROTO is engraved in the back badge, and ‘FORGED’ is machined into the hosel. Four different coloured dots appear below the ‘FORGED’ script chronologically celebrating each of Rory’s major wins.

What’s also interesting is the, the RORS PROTO 7-iron and 8-iron which is inspired by P·730 irons. They have a thinner topline, which is Rory’s visual preference. Instead of the MX9 grooves found in P 730, RORS PROTO irons have TW2 grooves which are used in P7TW irons. Rory feels these grooves provide him better spin out of the rough.

These irons are only available for a limited time, because TaylorMade will only make a limited number of them, so you’ll need to be fast if you want to snap up a set.

The other thing that is also quite good, which some of you may be surprised about is the price. At £1,249.99, these irons are inline with what you would expect from other premium irons. To play a set identical to the ones that have won a career grand slam for this price, to me, is a bargain.

At such great value to be able to play the same set up as Rory McIlroy is an amazing and is an amazing opportunity for golf fans around the world so be quick and get your set now.
