Srixon has announced the release of its new Z-Star range of golf balls designed to offer ‘long-hitting performance, increased spin around the greens and a ball that conquers the wind’.

Described as Srixon’s most advanced golf balls to date, the new Z-Star and Z-Star XV feature a number of improvements upon its predecessors including the newly developed Speed Dimple Pattern, enhanced SpinS kin, new Energetic Gradient Growth Core and a super soft urethane cover for softer feel.

The new 324 Speed Dimple Pattern features a more uniform surface area for lower aerodynamic resistance. This results in even more airflow around the ball during flight, giving the ball a powerful trajectory with longer distance.

The dimple pattern improvements combine with the new Energetic Gradient Growth (E.G.G.) Core to ensure the ball maintains a penetrating flight through the wind, giving more distance.

The new Srixon Z-Star XV has also been created with a newly developed, high-resistance ionomer ultra-thin mid-layer that works to increase the hardness of the mid-layer. This improves the contrast between the hard outer and the soft inner to give high launch angles and low spin, resulting in a firmer feel and even more distance than the Z-Star.

On top of that, Srixon’s improved Spin Skin coating is now 21% softer and gives golfers a 25% increase in interaction between ball and clubface on impact compared to the previous model. This results in softer feel and consistent spin performance.

Srixon Z-Star and Z-Star XV – which is best for you?

A three-piece golf ball built for high performance with extremely soft feel, Srixon says the Z-Star performs best with driver swing speeds between 90 and 105mph. It is also ideal for the golfer that wants more spin and feel around the green.

Meanwhile, the Z-Star XV is a four-piece golf ball that is a more distance-orientated tour performance ball, returning less spin off the driver, creating longer, more penetrating ball flights.

It feels slightly firmer, but does not sacrifice feel and control around the greens. This ball is ideally suited to golfers who have a driver swing speed higher than 100mph.

The Srixon Z-Star and Z-Star XV will be available in pro shops and golf stores across Europe with an RRP of £45 per dozen. For more information, log-on to srixon.co.uk
