Sun Mountain ClubGlider Meridian review

If you’re jetting off to warmer climates to get some golf in, then you’ll want to ensure your clubs get to their destination with ease and, crucially, in one piece. So, how does the Sun Mountain ClubGlider perform in the airport?

Sun Mountain are known for their top quality waterproof bags and rightly so, but when it comes to travel covers, I think they’re hard to beat.

Let’s take a look at one of their flagship models, the Club Glider Meridian. I took it to Berlin, flying from Edinburgh, to put it through its paces.

The First Look

What is there to say about the colours? It certainly stands out from the crowd. I could easily pick it out on the runway during those nervy moments where you hope the baggage handler doesn’t forget, or worse still, throw your golf bag in a way to damage the valuables inside.

The first thing I noticed about this cover was the padding at the top, which is reassuring. I’ve used covers in the past that didn’t really have any padding here, so this was a great touch and it gives you that peace of mind.

There is also the option for a little bit of customisation on the side of your cover. We had ‘Berlin 2024’ there for obvious reasons, but it’s a good chance to get your name there and feel like a pro.

The Sun Mountain Club Glider is certainly eye catching.

The Tech

Here’s a little more on the key tech in the Sun Mountain Club Glider Meridian.

Providing exceptional maneuverability from leaving the front door to arriving at the final destination, the ClubGlider Meridian is constructed from robust ballistic-style nylon and dense foam padding to deliver added protection and keep belongings safe. The pioneering design features pivoting caster wheels and an exclusive folding leg mechanism that can be extended and retracted in one easy motion to fully support the weight of the bag and eliminate excessive bending and lifting.

“The Sun Mountain travel covers for this season will appeal to all travelling golfers looking for a high-quality and long-lasting product that really stands out from the crowd. The premium golf luggage bags have become world renowned for making travel so much easier and these colourful designs elevate the latest range to another level.” – Nigel Freemantle, Managing Director of Brand Fusion International, the exclusive distributor of the brand in Europe.

The bunkered Verdict

Travelling with the golf clubs in tow and everything that goes along with it can be a stressful experience. But, the Sun Mountain ClubGlider goes a long way to making it easier.

Firstly, the folding legs with the castor wheels are a huge help and compared to a cover that doesn’t have any of these, it’s night and day. The cover will roll along without needing to be pulled, so it reduces strain when you’re getting the clubs to the terminal.

The other key bit of technology here is the foam padding at the top of the cover. As I mentioned earlier, this was something that really filled me with confidence when I was putting the bag in here. Even if the cover does get thrown, your clubs are going to be pretty secure.

On this trip we only took a carry on bag as well as the clubs, so it was essential I had room in the cover for other things. Think golf shoes, toiletries, changes of clothes and plenty of golf balls. Even with a cart bag, I had plenty of room to get these things in.

Overall, this is brilliant addition to the set-up for a golfer who travels with their clubs a lot. It really did make it easy to get the clubs around the airport and you’ll look the part while doing it too.
