Could this man be TaylorMade’s answer to Scotty Cameron?

The equipment giant has announced that it has officially signed Logan Olson, a bespoke putter maker who shot to notoriety when Scottie Scheffler put one of his putters in play, to its team.

Until Scheffler used, and won with, his putter, Olson largely made small batches of super premium putters from his HQ in California. However, since the world No.1 put the club in play, things have gone from strength to strength for the 27-year-old.

Olson, who TaylorMade describes as a generational talent when it comes to putter craftsmanship, will now continue to make his small batches of putters but with the backing of TaylorMade’s operational and manufacturing capabilities.

• Has Bryson DeChambeau signed with a British fashion brand?

• Scotty Cameron’s latest release is inspired by Formula 1

That means that Olson will be able to draw on feedback of the likes of Scheffler, fellow world No.1 Nelly Korda, Tommy Fleetwood and Collin Morikawa.

Of course, this could also be a big benefit for any TaylorMade staff player looking for a new custom putter to put in play.

For those paying close attention, this won’t be a huge shock. Olson’s putters have previously been used by Scheffler and Korda, two of TaylorMade’s most prominent athletes, and Olson’s website suggested a partnership between him and the brand when Scheffler had the club in the bag. But now it’s official!

In a release posted on TaylorMade’s website, the brand’s vice president of product creation Brian Bazzel said Olson’s work on professional tours will now expand with a tour matrix of blade and mid-mallet heads:

“It’s not every day you stumble upon someone like Logan. His ability to merge creativity with such a technical process is nothing short of remarkable. Whether you’re a professional on tour, someone who plays the game for the sheer love of it, or even a collector with a keen eye for finely crafted putters, Logan’s creations embody a level of craftsmanship that resonates with golfers from all abilities.”

Olson had this to say on the news:

“I’ve always appreciated that TaylorMade is a brand that isn’t afraid to take risks and try something different. I feel a resemblance to that in my own work and thoughts on approaching new projects. Being able to utilise the feedback of the best players in the world helps push design criteria to a completely different place.”

Olson’s next launch, the Craft Batch No. 3 putters, will be launched in the USA and Canada on December 5 for $850 USD exclusively on his website.

Craft Batch No. 3 will feature a Flumber’s Neck, Olson’s take on a blend of plumber’s and flow neck designs commonly found in blade putters. A substantial amount of time went into the development of the Flumber’s neck, which takes the performance benefits of both plumber’s and flow neck hosel designs and combines them into a single package.
