Thriston Lawrence has four wins on the DP World Tour, but it’s his performance at the 152nd Open and at the BMW Championship that has announced him to most of the golf world. But what clubs does Thriston Lawrence have in the bag?
The South African impressed at Wentworth and Troon with his care-free attitude and aggressive play, and that was made possible by a set of clubs that clearly fit him well.
Since the early days of his pro career, Lawrence has been gaming Ping clubs and as 2025 approaches, that is still the case.
One interesting thing to note is that Thriston uses a shorter than standard shaft in his driver. That’s part of the reason he’s able to swing so freely at the ball and create such impressive speed.
That driver is the Ping G430 Max, which is ultra forgiving on mishits. That’s not to say that Lawrence has missed the centre of the face often, but if he does, it will help him to keep the ball in play.
At the top of his iron set, Lawrence has a Ping iCrossover, a club which is great in links golf as it allows you to keep it low and get the ball running on the firm fairways.

In his irons, Lawrence has a stunning set of Ping iBlade irons in the bag. These are some of the best looking irons you can get in 2024 and they give him great workability, as well as a degree of forgiveness.
Lawrence uses a Ping PLD Oslo 4 putter, which is fitted with a 2 thumb grip.
