We may have to wait until 2015 for a new Pro V1 and Pro V1x, but that doesn’t mean Titleist are kicking their heels in the ball market waiting for the year to pass. Nothing could be further from the truth as they showed with the launch of the new Top Grade balls.

Featuring new NXT Tour, NXT Tour S, Velocity and DT SoLo balls, the range has been improved to give the most for those with preferences outside the Pro V1 and Pro V1x categories.

“When we make an improvement to a Titleist golf ball, it’s in direct response to what golfers tell us they need and want,” said Bill Morgan, senior VP of golf ball R&D for Titleist.

“We’re constantly in the field talking with golfers, capturing their launch conditions on all types of shots, and observing how different golf balls perform for their game. All of this information feeds the product development process and allows us to focus our design efforts and ultimately our prototype testing in ways that will enhance performance for these golfers.”

NXT Tour and NXT Tour S

The NXT Tour and NXT Tour S are the headline duo for the Top Grade launch and both feature improvements for 2014. These are positioned as the best scoring and best performing products in Titleist’s golf ball armoury behind the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, and they’ve been made even softer than their predecessors. Titleist have reduced the compression in both balls to make them softer, but have kept the difference in softness between the two at a constant. NXT Tour also remains a firmer ball compared to the softer feel of the NXT Tour S.

Titleist

Velocity

The Velocity franchise was first introduced in 2012 and it returns for 2014 with a new, reformulated LSX core for higher initial ball speeds and more distance. The same dimple design as could be found in previous models of Pro V1, Pro V1x, NXT Tour and NXT Tour S has also moved into Velocity and gives the ball a much more penetrating flight.

“When we make an improvement to a Titleist golf ball, it’s in direct response to what golfers tell us they need and want,” – Bill Morgan, Titleist’s senior VP of golf ball R&D.

Titleist

DT SoLo

The DT SoLo is the Titleist’s softest ball and the new model gives the best combination of soft feel and distance to date. A softer feel is given by changes to the cover and the core. This is a ball built for the golfer that wants good scoring performance in a softer feeling product.
