Bryson DeChambeau has made a shock equipment change leading in to the US Open.
Bryson DeChambeau has been incredibly consistent when it comes to contending in recent majors, as he has finished in the top-six five times out of the last six majors.
One thing that always stands out with DeChambeau is his equipment – and what he has done ahead of this week’s test at Oakmont may surprise you.
DeChambeau has always been an out-of-the-box thinker especially when it comes to equipment, which is somewhat of a necessity as he is one of the game’s fastest and longest hitters.
Last year before The Masters in 2024, he put into play his new Avoda irons which featured the same bulge and roll characteristics as seen on his Krank Fire driver. Since putting those into play he has been incredibly consistent and won the US Open in 2024.

However, he is mixing it up again. Spotted at last week’s LIV event in Virginia, Bryson was seen playing with a brand-new set of irons which he has put in his bag.
There isn’t much to go on in terms of tech, but here’s what we can see.
The irons are from LA Golf and they look similar to the Avoda irons, but there are a few things that stand out that are different. Engraved on the hosel is, ‘BAD V3-W’, which we can assume will be the name of the irons. If you look at the face design, it looks fairly similar to the Avoda irons and it’s safe to say there is bulge and roll on these irons as well.

On the back of the iron is where it gets interesting. There is a black panel starting from almost the centre going towards the toe of the club. This has two port screws which we can assume is where you can add weight in whichever way you need to. This will definitely help Bryson keep that face more stable and essentially give him great consistency – especially at his absurd speeds.
He finished T-4 at Virginia last week and it will be interesting to see how these irons perform this week at Oakmont – one of the toughest courses in the world.
