Review: Vice Golf’s debut clubs range

Vice Golf is known for its golf balls, but the German based brand has extended their range and has released their first ever golf clubs.

The new range of golf clubs features two forged irons options, triple forged carbon wedges and two putter options. I certainly like what I see so far.  Using ten years of player data from fittings, Vice has put together a range that looks quality, especially when you consider it’s their first foray into club design. Let’s get a closer look at what they have to offer.

The First Look

If we start with the irons, we have the Vice Golf VGI01 iron. With thin top lines and only a little bit of offset, these are a very clean and sharp looking iron.

Next up, we have the VGI02 irons. These aren’t as much of a blade like players iron these are bigger in head size and are packed with more forgiveness.

The wedges at first glance have a nice head shape, great on the eye and the full face of grooves will give that control and confidence over the greenside shots.

The putters come in two shapes. Firstly, the VGP01 Blade which is wider in shape with an elongated profile. The VGP02 Mallet is a winged design with a bit of mass in the centre which looks great from the address to get you rolling the ball on the intended target line. Overall, these get a big tick in the looks department.

The Tech

Vice Golf VGI01 Irons

Kicking it off in the tech department we have the VGI01 irons. A two piece hollow body construction is here to create fast speeds and long distance. Developed with insights from millions of data sets from normal golfers the irons delivers forgiveness without compromising on performance. The triple forged head milled finish is a lighter head weight design to increase swing speed and improve shaft-head-balance. At address there is minimal offset and a thin top line with an increased face length for improved forgiveness.

Vice Golf VGI02 Irons

The second iron offering is engineered to help your golf game. Taking the data from fitting from real golfers, the two-piece cast head has high rebound face material for forgiveness and speed. With a relatively low offset combined with a slight weight shift towards the heel to increase face closure rate through impact, the lightweight heads increase speed and support draw shots at the same time. With a larger face and increased scoring area it will give you the confidence when standing offer the ball.

Vice Golf VGW01 Wedges

Triple forged carbon steel for precise feedback with optimised turf interaction and full face grooves. The forged CNC milled clubhead is designed to give you the best control and spin around the green. With a full-face of grooves you will see consistent spin rates and control even on toe strikes, The optimised bounce improves turf interaction, and a progressive tapered toe and heel grind delivers great versatility around the greens.

Vice Golf VGP01 Putter

With a super soft forged steel, Vice have sculpted this putter shape to still allow the natural opening of the putter face, whilst maintaining enough face stability to square the face at impact. The slightly elongated top profile bumps the MOI while providing a larger canvas to create a significantly larger alignment aid. It’s a 100% forged steel with CNC milled finish and optimised weight and club face size for increased playability.

Vice Golf VGP02 Putter

This winged design is 100% CNC milled with aluminium weight’s and high MOI. The tapered steel wings shift the centre of gravity away from the clubface, increased further due to the utilisation of aluminium for the main body. This results in a high MOI putter, while sustaining clubface positional feel, usually lost by traditional mallets. The sound and feel of the VGP02 combines to teach players to consistently find the sweet spot of the clubface.
