WITB: Vincent Norrman secures first PGA Tour win

Vincent Norrman secured his first professional win in a playoff against England’s Nathan Kimsey at the Barbasol Championship at Keene Trace GC. 

The Swede played four great rounds, shooting two rounds of 66 and two rounds of 67. Scoring was low all week and his total of 22-under-par was only good enough to make a playoff.

What was impressive through the week was the 25-year-old’s stats. He drove the ball well throughout the week, finishing third in strokes gained: off the tee, averaging 316 yards from the tee box. His longest of the tournament broke the 400 yard mark, so clearly distance isn’t an issue for the young European.

Throughout the week, Norrman hit 50 of the 73 greens in regulation, but it was on the greens where he really shone. The newly ranked 164th player in the world averaged 25 putts per round throughout the week, the lowest from the field.

It was close to the very end and with Nathan Kimsey making a surge shooting a final round of 64 it was all tied up after 72 holes.

Both would find the rough off the tee and both would miss the green on their approach with Kimsey finding the bunker short left. The Englishman was unsuccessful getting up and down and Norrman was close enough to make a par and secure his first  PGA Tour win.
