Address: Scarista, Isle of Harris HS3 3DJ

One of the most picturesque nine-hole courses in the world, the Isle of Harris Golf Club opened in 1930 and has grown into a first-class short links.

Any one of the course's nine holes makes a case to be its signature, but that honour almost always falls to the sixth - a 220-yard par-4 to a hidden, well-protected, postage-stamp green.

The scenery, which stretches from the gorgeous Scarista beach and out to Ceapabhal mountain on the Toehead peninsula are unrivalled. Indeed, when Sir Nick Faldo visited, he described Harris as "one of the most beautiful settings in golf".

And who are we to argue with the greatest British golfer of all time?

Make sure you look out for the six-time major champion's £5 green fee, which is framed and hanging on the clubhouse wall.
