Once it starts raining when we’re out on the course, many of us are reluctant to stick on our waterproof jacket as it’s harder to swing freely and ultimately leads to a drop in both distance and performance.

This is now a problem of the past though as Nike Golf’s new Hyperadapt Storm-FIT jacket has proved that it is up to the challenge.

Athletes including Charl Schwartzel, Thorbjorn Olesen, Paul Casey and Ross Fisher will all be using the jacket as they compete in the Alfred Dunhill Links championship this week, hoping that the latest apparel technology to keep the, performing at their best.

Hyperadapt gave me the edge. The freedom of motion and protection it offers takes away any distractions.

It has already gained approval from many on tour and Trackman testing showed that their driver clubhead speed remained in the upper echelons on the Trackman system, proving that you don’t have to sacrifice distance to stay dry.

“In the past waterproofs restricted my swing,” said England’s Tommy Fleetwood. “Hyperadapt is the best jacket I have ever worn and the first one I have used in tournament play. I love it.”

Paul Casey is one player who certainly doesn’t mind playing while wearing the new Hyperadapt as he triumphed in the gusting winds and heavy rain at the Irish Open while wearing the waterproof.

“Hyperadapt gave me the edge in my Irish Open win,” said Casey, who was one of the athletes that worked with Nike designers to test the Hyperadapt jacket technology. “The freedom of motion and protection it offers takes away any distractions.”

During a series of demo days across the UK, golfers were asked to compare their current waterproof jacket to the new Nike Hyperadapt using Trackman. The results showed that 93% of testers gained clubhead speed thanks to the range of motion allowed by the Hyperadapt jacket.

Combining flexibility and waterproof protection, it is the only golf performance rain jacket of its kind. With sweater-like stretch and an impenetrable outer layer, it combines the benefits of both without sacrificing performance.

With no-sew technology throughout the inner layer, designers minimised chaffing and added a new stretch component to the garment. A 4-way stretch system added to the shoulders and arms maximises range of motion and eliminates restrictions during the swing. This woven, stretch knit laminate combination provides a quiet garment during the swing and a sweater-like feel for comfort and protection at every angle.

Along with a comfortable fit and increased breathability, the Hyperadapt jacket is seam sealed for 100% waterproof protection. Adjustable cuffs and hems offer a custom fit for increased protection and even less distraction giving athletes an advantage with every detail.

Out in shops now, you can get the jacket with a half zip (RRP – £199.99) or with a full zip (RRP – £210) while the Hyperadapt Storm-FIT trousers are available at a cost of £169.99. For more information visit www.nikegolf.eu.
