The PGA Merchandising Show is well underway in Orlando and Titleist hit the ground running with the launch of the new Vokey Spin Milled 5 wedges.

Improving on the Spin Milled 4 range will have been a tough ask for master craftsman Bob Vokey, but he has enlisted his years of knowledge and experience to create what Titleist say are the ‘best performing wedges in the game’.

Vokey Design wedges have been the most played wedges at every level of competitive golf since 2004 and that trend looks set to continue with the new Spin Milled 5 models.

“I worked closely with our team of craftsmen and engineers to apply everything I’ve learned from the best players in the world to Spin Milled 5.” – Bob Vokey

The headline of this latest release is the inclusion of new, deeper TX3 grooves that maximise the spin by reducing the effect of grass and sand at contact. The grooves channel away that debris to give a better contact between the ball and the edge of the groove.

Titleist made sure each and every groove is cut to the maximum dimensions that the Rules of Golf allow and a localised, high-frequency heat treatment is used to make the spin retention last longer over the life of the wedge.

“I’ve always said I have the best R&D facility in the world – the PGA Tour,” said Vokey. “I worked closely with our team of craftsmen and engineers to apply everything I’ve learned from the best players in the world to Spin Milled 5.”

“We’ve increased the spin. We’ve given players more control. And we’ve got a bounce and grind matrix that will provide the versatility and confidence to hit a variety of shots around the green and get up and down more.”
