11. Ray Ainsley
Ray Ainsley, a Californian club pro, was taking part in the 1938 US Open at Cherry Hills where he had one massive brain fart. Playing the 397-yard par-4 16th, he found water at the front of the green but, for some reason, opted to play his ball from the water rather than take a penalty. He ended up with 19, which is still a US Open record.
