Playing in the 1968 French Open at St Cloud, Barnes, above, took 15 shots to play the short eighth in the second round. After missing putts he snatched at whilst the ball was moving, he penalised himself further by standing astride the line of a putt. As a result, he took 12 strokes from inside three feet. Ouch.
