7. O’Connor’s 2-iron

Christy O’Connor Jnr entered Ryder Cup folklore in 1989 when his 2-iron approach on the 18th at The Belfry helped Europe earn a 14-14 draw and retain the trophy. Widely regarded as one of the greatest shots in Ryder Cup history, the 229-yard shot landed on the green and ran up to the correct tier, ending 4ft from the pin.
