1. Blink and you've mist it

In 1907, John Ball, for a wager, was challenged whether he could go round Hoylake during dense fog in under 90, in no longer than two hours 15 minutes and without losing a ball. Ball played with a black ball, (yes, a black ball!) went round in 81, and also beat the time comfortably.
