After the first leg of play-off action on the PGA Tour, 70 has become 50.
While players jumped up and down the FedEx Cup standings last week, a handful of big names fell short.
It means their season in the states is over before the BMW Championship and Tour Championship get underway.
Here’s the most high-profile players who have faced the axe.
• Golf legend has “no time for LIV whatsoever”
• Major champion DQ’s himself after bizarre mistake
Justin Rose
Rosey started the week at number 55 in the season-long standings, and that’s where he finished. An 11-time winner on Tour, Rose put up a strong bid to progress in Tennessee. He finished T22 at the St Jude Championship, but that wasn’t enough to get inside the magic number.
Jordan Spieth
Rather than a date at the BMW Championship, Spieth will head to the treatment table for imminent surgery on his wrist. It’s caused the American problems for well over a year after it flared up prior to the 2023 PGA Championship. A T68 finish last week was an indication of his battles and he finished at number 67 in the standings.
Tom Kim
Someone had to finish at number 51 and, sadly for Tom Kim, it was the South Korean himself. He entered the week at number 43 but a T50 finish saw him fly down the rankings. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old’s frustration reached boiling point on the 12th green, and his antics didn’t go down well with fans.

Min Woo Lee
Of the four Australians in the heat of the play-off drama, Min Woo Lee was the odd one out. That’s because Lee, who came into the week at number 63, could only move up three places, cutting his season short. A 66 on the final day and a T22 finish wasn’t enough for the former DP World Tour star.
Nick Taylor
The four-time PGA Tour winner was joined by fellow Canadian Mackenzie Hughes in bowing out of the play-offs. Taylor was number 52 in the standings and with any sort of decent result, would likely have progressed. That’s when he beat home only five players, however.
• Jordan Spieth set to undergo surgery ‘ASAP’
• Pro claims Matt Kuchar’s “mask slipped” with Wyndham antics
Harris English
The Ryder Cup winning American dropped six places to number 57 and won’t feature in next week’s BMW Championship. He withdrew from the Wyndham Championship with an injury just one week earlier, however, which could go some way to explaining his T61 finish at the St Jude, which was bookended by a 76.
