Never has the Open de Espana been more in the limelight.
Just last week, Jon Rahm appealed his LIV Golf fines and found himself in the field at the eleventh hour.
The Spaniard is hoping to win a fourth Spanish Open and sit one behind Ángel de la Torre’s record five wins.
Rahm’s Legion XIII teammate Tyrrell Hatton is also in the lineup, as the pair look to fulfill their DP World Tour requirements.
European duo Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry also make the trip to Spain, while Matthieu Pavon returns to defend his title.
Founded in 1912, the event has been part of the tour’s schedule since its inception in 1972.
A new winner this week would etch his name onto an honour’s list that includes Arnold Palmer, Seve Ballesteros and Nick Faldo.

Tommy Fleetwood 10/1
For someone of Fleetwood’s class, only two DP World Tour wins since 2019 seems a bit light. He’s not been out the top 15 on the circuit in three starts this season, while enjoying a really consistent season overall. The Englishman played better than a T12 suggested at Wentworth last week but was let down by his work on the greens, and can make amends in Madrid.
