There was a dramatic end to the Alfred Dunhill Championship on Sunday, but one the home fans revelled in.

The 42-year-old South African Shaun Norris won his second DP World Tour title and second on home soil.

This time, however, he rallied from six shots back to prevail at Leopard Creek and earn €255,000 for his week’s work.

“I had a number in mind,” he said. “I thought 14 or 15-under was a good number to get to, and if I could post a number early then they needed to chase it down.

“The last four or five holes on this golf course are very strong. I didn’t think 13-under was strong enough, but – somehow – it held up.”

Norris was striking whilst the iron was hot, as he won the JT Cup on the Japan Golf Tour just two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, fellow South African Ryan van Velzen finished in a three-way tie for second place, with LIV star Charl Schwartzel back in T15.
