Andy Murray won 46 titles in his illustrious tennis career.

The 37-year-old bowed out at the Olympic Games from a hall-of-fame career that saw him bag three Grand Slam titles and reach World No.1 in an era that included the three best players to ever pick up a racquet. Then he turned his attentions to golf, with the initial aim of getting down to scratch.

And it didn’t take long for him to lift his first trophy on the course.

Playing off seven, the two-time Wimbledon champion and gold medallist emerged victorious at the British Tennis Journalists’ Association‘s inaugural golf day, held in honour of Mike Dickson, the Daily Mail reporter who sadly passed away during the Australian Open in January.

The tournament, held at the stunning Hanbury Manor in Hertfordshire, saw a number of celebrities and sports stars take part as well as a who’s who of the tennis media.

“Thanks to everyone who joined us at Hanbury Manor yesterday for the first BTJA Mike Dickson Golf Day,” the BTJA posted on X.

“Well done to our winner Andy Murray on claiming the first trophy of his golfing career.

“Think there are many more to come by the looks of it.”

Murray played with fellow Scot Robert MacIntyre at last month’s BMW PGA Championship pro-am, and has even been getting lessons from the two-time PGA Tour champion and Ryder Cup star.

“For someone that’s not really played that much, I thought he was good,” MacIntyre said of Murray at Wentworth.

“I was very impressed with his game. He’ll be scratch in no time.”

Now, just 45 to go…
