Nine of the top ten ranked players were in action at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but it was the world No.14 who prevailed.
Russell Henley nailed down his early place in the 2025 US Ryder Cup team with a win propelled by an eagle chip-in.
The 35-year-old stood greenside on the par-5 16th hole at Bay Hill and produced a piece of magic that was well worth the $4 million top prize.
He pipped Collin Morikawa to the Signature Event title, with the two-time major champion walking away with $2.2 million for his solo second-placed finish.
And, as well as winning $1.4 million, Canadian Corey Conners secured the only Open berth available, as the leading player not already exempt at Royal Portrush.
