Augusta National Golf Club is taking stock of the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene after the storm swept through Georgia.

Having left a trail of destruction in neighbouring Florida, including destroying the home of two-time major champion John Daly, the Category 4 hurricane moved north and through the home of the Masters on Saturday.

Drone footage captured later in the afternoon showed trees felled on Magnolia Lane.

Meanwhile, X account Eureka Earth posted an image showing Augusta National’s patrons car parking area had suffered the same fate.

No images from inside the club’s gates have been released.

However, ANGC’s chairman Fred Ridley released a short statement via the Masters’ social media accounts.

“Our Augusta community has suffered catastrophic and historic impact from Hurricane Helene,” he wrote.

“We currently are assessing the effects at Augusta National Golf Club.

“In the meantime, our focus and efforts are foremost with our staff, neighbours and business owners in Augusta.”

Fox54 News journalist Ben Parsons posted a number of short videos on his X account showing the damage on Washington Road, which runs along the north border of the golf club.

Chairman Ridley added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with them as well as everyone throughout Georgia and the Southeast who have been affected.”

The second round of the 2023 Masters was delayed for more than an hour when heavy winds caused two trees to fall near the 17th hole. Luckily no one was injured.
