Sound the ‘Dream Job’ klaxon!

Augusta National Golf Club has listed a vacancy that is bound to make every golf nut’s mouth water.

As first spotted by the excellent Josh Carpenter of Sports Business Journal, the host venue of The Masters is looking for a new club historian, curator and archivist.

Amongst the many responsibilities you’ll be expected to juggle – should you get the gig, that is – are implementing a wide-reaching heritage program and acting as the the custodian of the club’s historical assets.

“The ideal candidate is responsible for managing, preserving and enhancing the past, present and future physical and intellectual history of this institution, based on traditional and accepted archive standards,” says the job description.

“Based full-time in Augusta, Ga., the Historian also reinforces Augusta National’s position as a significant contributor to the history of golf, as envisioned by its founders, Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts, while maintaining the confidentiality of club business.”

You’ll need eight to ten years’ experience working in heritage management or related field and a bachelor’s degree within a Liberal Arts curriculum including, but not limited to, Archival Studies, History, Library Sciences or related fields of study required.

A Masters (no pun intended) in Archival Science and ACA certification preferred but not mandatory.

Unsurprisingly, a thorough knowledge of golf, Augusta National, and the Masters Tournament are also preferred.

Working hours? You’d be looking at 8.30am until 5pm from Monday to Friday, whilst you’ll also be expected to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

And the first couple of weeks in April, presumably.

The salary has not been disclosed. But really, who needs a wage when you get to work at Augusta National?
