The Bahrain Championship went down to the wire on Sunday before Laurie Canter produced the goods in a three-man play-off.
The former LIV man won his second DP World Tour title after finally getting off the mark for his career last June.
For the win, the Englishman earned just over €400,000 and some potentially significant Ryder Cup and Race to Dubai points.
Canter has also reached a career best OWGR of 51st and has his sights on pushing even further.
“I’ve now got my head fully into trying to climb the world rankings,” he said.
“This is going to get me some points and I’ve not got many to defend so I’m going to try to do do everything I can to get myself in that top 50 and open up the opportunities that that brings.
“I’m not that far off it now and it’s great to have a target like that.”
