“To be clear, this is about golf and giving back to our nation’s veterans, not politics.”
Those were Bryson DeChambeau’s words when Donald Trump appeared on the LIV golfer’s YouTube series Break 50 in July.
The video, which went straight to the top of the streaming network’s trending list and took less than a week to break through the 10 million views barrier, saw DeChambeau and the then presidential candidate attempt to break 50 from the red tees at Trump National near New York.
Now, DeChambeau’s “crazy journey”, as he calls it, has come full circle with his new golfing buddy.
Republican Trump served four years as president from 2016 before twice being impeached and beaten by Joe Biden in 2020, but The Apprentice star is back in the biggest job in the world – and he had DeChambeau on stage with him to celebrate his return to the White House.
Don’t worry, it was every bit as awkward as you might think.

Addressing a delirious crowd at the Palm Beach Convention Centre in Florida having seen off Democrat rival Kamala Harris, Trump said: “We have up here today the US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, fantastic golfer, obviously he hits the ball slightly longer than me, just a little bit.”
He paused to look around, with DeChambeau nowhere to be seen.
“Bryson DeChambeau is up here somewhere,” Trump continued. “What happened to Bryson? Where is he? Bryson! He’s hitting balls. He’s on the way?”
Eventually, DeChambeau appeared sheepishly on stage.
“Bryson! Oh, look at him. He’s got a great career going. Great US Open, Bryson, that’s a fantastic job.”
DeChambeau was also wearing one of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” caps – but instead of the usual red and white, it was all black, generally used by the fringe far-right group ‘Dark Maga’.
But we’ll let you draw your own conclusions there.
