Bryson DeChambeau could make history in 2025 – and that’s before the LIV Golf League has even started.

According to the Hindustan Times, DeChambeau and his Crushers GC team are “near certainties” to play in a new yet-to-be-announced tournament in India.

The two-time major winner looks set to compete in India’s first-ever International Series tournament, an event sanctioned by the Asian Tour and backed by LIV’s Saudi financers.

The event is reportedly scheduled for January 30-February 2, just before the start of the LIV season in Saudi Arabia. It would be hosted by DFL Golf and Country Club, the current home of the Indian Open on the DP World Tour.

While the inaugural $2million event is still not finalised, DeChambeau told the Hindustan Times that he would relish the chance to play in India. The 31-year-old would become the first reigning US Open champion to ever tee it up in the country.

“I am aware that [LIV teammate Anibarn Lahiri] is going to be involved, and we have had a few talks about it. It will be a very important week for him. I will support him fully, and if everything works out, I am extremely excited about the opportunity to play in India,” DeChambeau said.

“I have never been there, but it’s a country that has fascinated me. I have always loved being a global player and I greatly enjoy playing in as many countries as possible.”

Lahiri, the only Indian player on the LIV circuit, thinks DeChambeau’s presence could be game-changing for the sport in his homeland.

“ I think it will be massive for Indian golf fans if Bryson is there,” Lahiri said.

“Single-handedly, with what he does on the golf course and outside it through his social media channels and his interaction with fans, he has brought millions of new fans to our sport. I think we can all agree he is the most popular golfer in the world right now.”

Meanwhile, LIV bosses have so far confirmed the first four events of the 2025 season. After the season-opener at Riyadh Golf Club, the circuit will stage events in Adelaide, Hong Kong and Singapore.
