Bubba Watson has got tongues wagging after making an appearance on the most recent episode of The Pat McAfee Show.

The two-time Masters champion, who joined LIV Golf in 2022, opened up on his move from the PGA Tour to the Saudi-backed circuit.

And as Watson explained what he deems the perks of his new job, the American took a subtle dig at the Range Goats GC, the franchise he now captains.

“There are no more cuts, so we’re there for the whole week,” he said. “I try to go in on Monday to get practice, because there’s nobody out there, even if I’m travelling overseas, I try to get in a bit early.

“Now that my kids are older, they come out and go to the tournaments with me, they’re allowed on the range with me. I’m the owner of the team, so they’re allowed to ride with me.

“I mean, hey, our team sucks, but we’ve got a great logo.”

He continued: “I love it. We have time off – the PGA Tour quit having time off, we started going year-round.

“Being able to spend time with my kids and watch them play sports is a dream come true. And they love watching me play golf.

“My son’s getting old enough now; he can walk all 18 holes and follow me. So, it’s a blast out there. We’re going to Spain and London; we’re going to stop over in Rome and let him see Rome for a couple of days. I love it.”

Before signing off, Watson added that the schedule he previously played in the States was easier, despite teeing it up more.

It was a result of being able to cherry-pick the events that suited the left-hander’s game.

“Going back to the PGA Tour schedule, there’s 40 events,” he explained. “For me, you pick your top 20 courses that you believe fit your game and so you can do that.

“But now at LIV, it’s tougher because it’s 14 weeks, and you have to play in all 14.

“No matter if all courses suck for you or all courses are good for you, you have to change your game and try and figure out your game and how you can play and attack each course, even though it might not be the course you want to play at.

“At the PGA Tour, out of 40, you can find some that you play well and perform at so you can keep your card.”

In his last full seasons on Tour, Watson finished 81st (2021), 46th (2020), and 81st (2019) on the FedEx Cup standings.

His LIV Golf team, which consists of Minkyu Kim, Peter Uihlein, and Matthew Wolff, is currently eighth of 13 in the season-long standings.

Watson, meanwhile, is 29th in the league’s individual standings.
