• Nordqvist, Munoz, Gal and Ciganda added to Team Europe
• Ten American spots also filled based on points list and rankings
A further four European players have been named as part of the 2015 Solheim Cup team next month after the conclusion of the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open.
After Suzann Pettersen, Charley Hull, Melissa Reid and Gwladys Nocera were the first players named on August 9 based on Ladies European Tour points, the quartet have been joined by Anna Nordqvist, Azahara Munoz, Sandra Gal and Carlota Ciganda based on their Rolex Rankings.
World No.10 Nordqvist, 28, will be making her fourth successive appearance in the biennial tournament after making her debut in 2009 – which resulted in a victory for Team USA. The five-time LPGA Tour winner’s record in her three previous appearances is 6-5-1.
Spaniard Munoz, 27, has been part of Team Europe for the past two Solheim Cups, both which resulted in wins, while Gal, 30, is making a return after missing out in 2013 following her debut in 2011. Ciganda, 25, will be making her second consecutive appearance and in 2013, she collected a maximum three points from three available.
European captain Carin Koch will announce her four captain’s picks live from London tomorrow on Sky Sports’ Sportswomen show from 11:30am-12pm BST.
Meanwhile, the bulk of Team Europe’s opponents have also been named after the conclusion of the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open.
