Website users throw their weight behind Aberdeenshire golf development

Major backing: Tycoon Trump’s Scottish course has received the support of the country’s golfers

An exclusive bunkered.co.uk survey has revealed that the overwhelming majority of golfers are in favour of Donald Trump’s soon-to-open golf course.

The Trump International Golf Links Scotland near Aberdeen, which is scheduled to open for play this summer, has been the subject of fierce debate at just about every level since the billionaire American tycoon first announced plans for it back in 2006.

Planning wrangles, disputes with local authorities, political action and opposition from certain environmental groups have all threatened to derail the project.

However, testament to Mr. Trump’s business acumen and tenacity, the course is close to completion and the first golfers are expected to play the track, labeled ‘the greatest golf course in the world’ by the man himself, within weeks.

There are still some obstacles to overcome with regards to completing the rest of the development. However, the course itself looks ready to play – much to the delight of readers of bunkered.co.uk, the official website of Scotland’s biggest-selling golf title bunkered.

A survey on the site within the last week asked users if they were in favour of the Trump International Golf Links Scotland development, with a whopping 83% coming out in favour.

A third of all respondents, meanwhile, are hopeful of playing the course at some point this year.

Perhaps most tellingly, almost half of all respondents (42%) said they had either a ‘favourable’ or ‘very favourable’ opinion of the man behind the development, Donald Trump, with 23% saying they had no particular strong opinion on him.

What is clear from this survey, therefore, is that whilst the development has had many vocal detractors in public, the vast majority of Scottish golfers – Mr. Trump’s target audience, lest we forget – are absolutely behind it.
