She is already a two-time Solheim Cup winning captain, but now Catriona Matthew wants to do the double in the Curtis Cup.
Matthew, 55, masterminded Great Britain and Ireland’s first win over the United States in eight years in a dramatic 10.5-9.5 victory at Sunningdale in September.
Now she will preside over the away leg of the amateur contest as the Curtis Cup heads to Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles from 12-14 June 2026.
The Scotswoman, who retired from professional golf at the AIG Women’s Open in St Andrews this year, is attempting to lead her fourth team triumph this time around.

“I’m delighted to be reappointed as Great Britain and Ireland Captain for the Curtis Cup and look forward to leading the team at Bel-Air in 2026,” Matthew said.
“It was a great contest against the United States of America at Sunningdale and the victory is right up there with anything I’ve achieved, including winning the Solheim Cup as a player and Captain.
“I was proud to lead such a talented side and am honoured that The R&A has asked me to continue as captain.”
Matthew, of course, has a fine pedigree in both the paid and non-paid ranks.

The winner of the 2009 Women’s Open, Matthew also enjoyed a stellar amateur career that included the women’s amateur title in 1993 and three Curtis Cup appearances.
Matthew added some stardust to an exciting GB&I side at Sunningdale and is relishing the challenge of winning on away soil.
“It’s always harder to win away from home and I’m excited for the opportunity,” she said. “It will be a great occasion at Bel-Air and it is my job to again build a high performing and motivated team who will aim to retain the trophy.”
