As the dust settles on a chaotic, thrilling PGA Championship, attention turns to the Colonial Country Club for the PGA Tour’s Charles Schwab Challenge.

Emiliano Grillo is the defending champion at this historic tournament, which was first staged on the PGA Tour 78 years ago.

This week, however, all eyes will be on Scottie Scheffler, who is still listed in the field in what is a hometown event for the world No.1.

Scheffler said he was “running on fumes” after somehow finishing T8 last week at Valhalla following his arrest before his second round.

The bunkered bet

Justin Rose 40/1

We’ll never know what how Scottie Scheffler would have performed in the PGA Championship had he not been arrested. A top-ten in those circumstances was nothing short of remarkable. Scheffler is back with home comforts this week in Texas and will be roared on by a growing support. It’s hard to see how a re-focused world No.1 with Ted Scott back on the bag for all four days won’t at least be in contention come Sunday. But if we’re looking for value, Justin Rose is a worthy pick. The Englishman had a fantastic week at Valhalla, punching his ticket to next month’s US Open. He still believes he can win on the biggest stages and his brilliant iron play at the PGA should give him huge confidence at Colonial, where he won back in 2018.
