Joe Highsmith had career earnings of just under $1.5 million before teeing it up in last week’s Cognizant Classic at PGA National, in Florida.
And, after Thursday’s opening round, it looked like that figure would remain the same.
Highsmith, 24, battled to make the cut on the number on Friday before firing off two rounds of 64 to seal his maiden win on the PGA Tour.
That means he earned the top prize of $1,656,000 as well as banking some huge perks.
For beating Jacob Bridgeman and JJ Spaun into first place, Highsmith secured a two-year exemption on Tour, a bucket full of FedEx Cup points, AND a ticket to the Masters.
