Nobody saw the news that Collin Morikawa had split with the only caddie of his career coming back in April.
Surely nobody predicted that Morikawa’s replacement would last just five events, either.
Yet, in another surprising move, first reported by Golfweek, Morikawa has parted ways with his new looper Joe Greiner.
Greiner, Max Homa’s former longtime caddie, had taken on Morikawa’s bag ahead of the Truist Championship in May after he split with J.J Jakovac.
Jakovac soon picked up Michael Thorbjornsen’s bag after spending six years with Morikawa.

“For me, what I’ve seen with Joe, he’s someone who wants to continue to learn and get better,” Morikawa said about Greinier after making the switch.
Incidentally, in the weeks between splitting from Homa and joining up with Morikawa, Greiner had filled in for Justin Thomas’ injured caddie Matt Minister for his win at the RBC Heritage.
“He’s a great caddie, he’s one of the best out there, obviously what he did with JT,” Morikawa added.
“Sometimes when you have a new caddie it frees people up and obviously it helped JT for those two events.”
Yet, as he prepared for the Rocket Classic in Detroit this week, the two-time major champion did not have Greiner by his side.

Morikawa and Greiner appeared to make a solid start to life together at the Truist Championship, with a tie for 17th.
But he could not improve on that finish in the next four events, failing to contend at the PGA Championship and the US Open.
Golfweek’s Adam Schupack reports that Morikawa has enlisted the services of KK Limbhasut, a Korn Ferry Tour pro who was the American’s teammate in college.
Limbhasut will assume the bag duties for one week only, with the identity of Morikawa’s next full-time caddie unclear.
Morikawa is the highest-ranked player in the field at this week’s $9.6million Rocket Classic.
