Oasis have reformed! But, unless you live under the proverbial rock, you already knew that.
Liam and Noel Gallagher announced that their band, which exploded onto the Britpop scene in 1994 with seminal debut album Definitely Maybe, will reconcile for a series of gigs across Great Britain and Ireland next summer on what will be the 30th anniversary of their multi platinum-selling record (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? – news that has sent music fans, particularly those of a certain age and socio-economic background, into a frenzy.
But while we all sit here and fret about whether or not we will get tickets to see if the warring siblings, who have not performed together for more than 15 years, can make it through the entire tour, it got us thinking.
About golf.
Obviously.
The best we could find for 51-year-old Liam was a series of posts on his X account last July that began with “Anybody for a car boot sale?” and was followed by things like “A pair of reading glasses” and “A scented candle”. Crucially, though, he added:

Unfortunately this is as far as we get in terms of details. Were they a gift he dumped in the garage, never to see the light of day? Or did he actually try his hand at our beautiful game at some point?
Either way, there is no such mystery surrounding his older brother’s feelings.
Speaking to Talksport in November, the Manchester City fan was discussing his friendship with the football club’s manager, Pep Guardiola.
The Spaniard is a huge golf nut and has often been seen on the links with Evertonian Tommy Fleetwood, but his attempts to tee up with his favourite Gallagher have seemingly fallen flat.
“I’ve been to lunch with him and he was going on about golf that day and he had a go at me about not playing golf,” Gallagher explained.
He wouldn’t even consider it?
“No way, no,” the Oasis guitarist and songwriter added. “I don’t like it. It’s the death of everything. I watched the last ten minutes of the Ryder Cup, that will be it.
“When I hear rock stars are playing golf I think that’s the end of everything.”
We’re not sure Alice Cooper, who literally wrote a book about how golf saved his life, would agree.
You’re nearly 60 now, Noel. Some might say you won’t live forever, so stop crying your heart out and take that Sunday morning call for a tee time with Pep…
