One of the best stories in golf this year, Michael Block hit the headlines after making a hole in one on his way to a finish of tied 15th.

Michael Block, who is the head professional at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, has played in several PGA Tour events, but has always counted his day job as teaching professional at his home club.

Hours after finishing on Sunday at the PGA Championship footage emerged of Block being invited to the Charles Schwab Challenge. Before he accepted, he jokingly asked the general manager of his club if he could have the time off.

• Where will the 2024 PGA Championship be played?

Of course, he was able to take the time to play the event, but does Michael Block still teach golf?

On his club’s website, Block is still listed as having availability for lessons, with 45 minutes costing $125. For a nine-hole playing lesson with Block, the cost goes to $500.

• Michael Block hungry for more success

However, these prices were in place before the California pro hit the big time, playing with Rory McIlroy in the final round of the second major championship of 2023.

Now, Block will likely be focussing on his playing ventures for the rest of 2023, and you’ll have a hard time getting availability for a lesson with him.

He has an invite into the Charles Schwab Challenge and the RBC Canadian Open, both are events on the PGA Tour.

When asked on CNN whether he would continue to charge the same price for lessons, Block joked that his wife would be making him charge more for lessons. However, he did say that he would “feel bad about charging more for a golf lesson. I feel pretty good about charging $150 for an hour long lesson.”
