Donald Trump’s return to the White House is being backed to break the deadlock between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
British bookie William Hill is taking bets on the prospect of peace breaking out between the rival circuits following the 78-year-old’s victory over Kamala Harris in this week’s US presidential election.
It’s offering odds of 1/2 on the tours merging under the new president, whilst a continuation of the separate competitions is priced at 6/4.
William Hill is also taking bets on the upcoming “PGA vs LIV” exhibition match featuring Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau.
PGA Tour pair McIlroy and Scheffler are fancied at 8/15 to come out on top.

A spokesperson for William Hill said: “Talk of the PGA and LIV Golf tours merging doesn’t appear to be coming to an end anytime soon, and Donald Trump’s presidency may accelerate proceedings.
“We make it a 1/2 chance that the tours merge under Trump’s presidency, with the upcoming cross-tour battle, labelled ‘The Match’, potentially the first step in that direction.
“The PGA Tour looks to have the upper hand in that contest as we make Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler 8/15 favourites, but it wouldn’t be out of character for the LIV representatives, Brooks Koepka and DeChambeau, to spring a surprise and emerge victorious at 11/8.”

• Rory McIlroy backs Donald Trump (and Elon Musk!) to fix golf
Prior to his victory at the polls on Tuesday, Trump claimed he could end golf’s civil war “in 15 minutes” and four-time major champ McIlroy, for one, believes him.
“He might be able to,” the Irishman told Sky Sports in Abu Dhabi this week. “He’s got Elon Musk, who I think is the smartest man in the world, beside him. We might be able to do something if we can get Musk involved, too.
“I think from the outside looking in, it’s probably a little less complicated than it actually is. But obviously Trump has a great relationship with Saudi Arabia. He’s got a great relationship with golf. He’s a lover of golf. So, maybe. Who knows?”
